Pair of Model 2443 Wall Sconces by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte

Beautiful and rare pair of wall sconces designed by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, model 2443.

These are made of a metal structure, a white glass diffuser hiding the four sources of light and two slabs of frosted glass, typical of the designer's work, with a free shape opening in the center. The sconces are finished with two brass decorative attaches.

Max Ingrand is a French master glass craftsman artist and decorator, he was artistic director of the Italian lighting manufacturer Fontana Arte for one decade, starting from 1954. He studied at the École des Beaux Arts de Paris and the prestigious École des Arts Décoratifs, where he was pupil of major artists, Jacques Grüber and Charles Lemaresquier. During the time he worked at Fontana Arte, he created some of the most iconic designs of the brand such as the classic Fontana table lamp. He also created a great number of stained glass panels for religious buildings, hotels and public places.

He was awarded the Legion of Honor by the French gouvernement for his contributions to design.
